In this chapter, Monica goes to the cheap district in order to find a place to spend the night, and eventually discovers a dirty hostel whose receptionist is ready to accept her in exchange for her dress as bail. The next morning, an incident in the shower causes Monica to flee the place as quickly as possible - with only enough time to pick up a prostitute's rags on her way out. Exhausted and depressed, but not she now looks out to Dick the Lawyer as her only chance at salvation...
