In this chapter, Dickon and Evelyn make an attempt to arrest Thaddeus, only to discover, at the very last minute, that his powers may be a bit too much for them to handle. Once Thaddeus learns of Dickon's plans, he seems to have a change of heart and lets him go do his thing - suspicious as it seems. Later on, Samarra guides Dickon into the kitchen of the feast hall and tells him to wait there for the Princess - as well as gives him a little extra something to calm his nerves before the final ordeal.
